One of the most exciting parts of each of my various trips has been to visit the amazing attractions in downtown Chicago. There is so much pride, and obvious hard work that went into these astounding and mind blowing attractions in Chicago.
I was so impressed with these attractions in downtown Chicago, I felt that each day I spent there was never enough. Some days my cheeks hurt from smiling all day. Each moment was so exciting to me whether I was out for a stroll or taking in all the art, music and food I could handle. These attractions really made my vacations in Chicago exciting and memorable and I was always eager to return. So I can personally vouch that all their hard work paid off. It can be hard to choose what attractions in downtown Chicago to start with do and where to go. So here is an insider's guide to working your way through these phenomenal attractions. We'll make it easy. If you're like me you'll come away from each day grinning and excited for the next day.

So let's simplify your planning in four easy steps:When out your day around the attractions in downtown Chicago, the first thing you'll want to do is: 1. Make a list of what seems the most interesting, keep reading for descriptions of some of the best and most popular attractions in Chicago, plan the day in groups depending on where you want to go and how long your vacation is. 2. Grab a great map of downtown Chicago, or print off this one, the city is actually laid out on a grid so getting around is pretty straightforward and easy. Most maps will list the locations of the various attractions, double check to make sure attractions you want to see are on the one you have, if not you can step into most convenient stores and pick up one that has them. 3. Circle the places you want to see on the map 4. Then plan your days perhaps the first day you'll want to visit all the museums, well the good news is that most of them are all pretty close together, so it's easy to get to all of them in a day or so, depending on how much time you spend in them. The one which is set a bit apart is the Museum of Science and Industry, but it's not too far away, just a short drive, bus or taxi ride. Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum If you love the stars, or even if you're mildly intrigued this is one of the amazing attractions in downtown Chicago full of gorgeous exhibits of our beautiful solar system and beyond. Its awe inspiring to be reminded how small our planet is in the BIG picture. It's a great place to go as an adult or kid. * It's 35,000 square feet of exhibits that range from models of the solar system, to ancient astronomical instruments * It has a great Virtual Reality experience, launch yourself into outer space and beyond, this is one of several interactive options * Check out New Images from NASA to see what is being discovered now * Guess what? this is the only place in the world where you can find two full-sized planetarium theaters, and much more so if you're interested make sure you visit. * They even have discount days, so call ahead to see when these are as they change from time to time.

Shedd Aquarium:
A museum, or zoo depending on how you see this artful exhibit of Animals. Do you want to see what it would be like to have a shark or dolphin swim right over your head? How about seeing an octopus that with one eye looking out of a small hole at you and then decides to squeeze his entire body through the hole to come say hi, now taking up the entire glass in front of you! It was literally breathtaking to see these amazing creatures, and yes some will probably scare you, this is what makes this unique of the attractions in downtown Chicago. There is nothing quite like seeing a scary shark staring you right in the face. You'll be so grateful for the impenetrable glass between you and it, but then others are simply amazing designs of art. Chicago Institute of Art is also downtown although its a little bit north of the other museums.If you like captivating art, then this is just the spot for you, you can see rooms upon rooms of amazing art, and artifacts which will blow your mind, in downtown exhibit. Here's just a sampling

You can see Sear Tower (Willistower), and Hancock Building these are two of the most breath taking, literally, attractions in downtown Chicago they are so high up. I would be terrified if I'd been the one to build them. I was petrified simply step out onto the Skydeck over looking downtown Chicago (it used to be Sears Tower Skydeck). Now the John Hancock Observatory The John Hancock Building, or Hancock Observatory, also has a great restaurant at the top called the Signature Room, an excellent place for fine dining at 1000 feet up. The ride to the top will make your stomach drop, and before dinner you can see a dynamic multi-media, of art and music "Sky Tour" narrated by David Schwimmer, yep the guy from the old Friends TV Show. He tells you all about the amazing history of Chicago and all of the attractions in downtown Chicago, he'll walk you through the fascinating narrative from the marsh land through to the thriving metropolis it is today, and you'll end this tour with a great 360 degree view at the 94th floor, simply an amazing place to go on your Chicago vacation. At 1353 feet up, needless to say this building also sways in the wind! It really makes you appreciate standing on a solid floor when your so high up. You'd almost think you were on a boat cruise out on lake Michigan. I loved the thrill of it all and the view! You can see so far on a clear day, you almost feel like you're in a low flying plane. In fact that's exactly what the view looks like. If you fly into O'Hare you can get a sneak peak of what you can see from the Sears Tower, look out your window and you can get an idea what it looks like from the top of the Sears Tower a few minutes before you land, the city looks like an art design, and it is.

John Hancock Observatory
Just a bit southeast of the Observatory, and still associate with downtown Chicago, is the Fantastic Navy Pier, it's on the Near north side.
If you like to take in a stunning view of the water, or want to stroll about and take a look at even more art in their stain glass art exhibit. Of all the attractions in downtown Chicago this is a great place to visit for both outdoor and indoor activities, & an amazing combination of events, like Cirque Du Sole, IMAX movies in 3-D, or visit the magnetic Children's Museum, you can spend a day lone in this one if the kids are with you, or take them outside to the rides and simply Huge Ferris wheel, or if they like boats head out for a boat ride. There are so very many thing to choose from, if you just want to shop no problem there are plenty of shops and more all right here on the pier, and then you can grab lunch, there are so many choices here.
