Adler Planetarium; Explore Outer Space like you never have before 






The Adler planetarium in Chicago also hosts a number of other exciting exhibits:

Planet Explorers: If you have a kid who dreams of being an Astronaut be sure to take them to this exhibit, here they can become a Space Explorer! Lots of fun for younger kids.

Shoot for the Moon: An exciting exhibit that outlines the amazing stories and adventures of our journey into outer space and the moon.

From the Earth to the Universe: Uncover awe inspiring images of the earth from the air.

Cyber Space: Here’s your opportunity to have some fun and interact with current astronomy developments.

Sky Watchers of Africa: Discover an amazing adventure with a new perspective. Africa sees and uses the sky differently. Come check out some of the very interesting differences.

Our Solar System: Explore what’s beyond our immediate planets. This fun exhibit allows you to take a drive on mars and even shoot things into Mars to see what kind of a crater you can make!

Galaxy Wall: This one’s pretty straightforward; there is an entire wall dedicated to the outline of our galaxy. It’s the biggest one and currently with the most detail.

Take a Journey to the Stars: One World One Sky: It’s time for an adventure with Big Bird’s in outer space, come with him as he explores the planets.

3-D Vision Imaging the Universe: Venture into the universe in 3-D ride along with scientists as they uncover more about the universe in 3-D also. Night Sky Live: Are you ready to be blown away with unreal images of the sky? Then you definitely need to check out Night Sky Live, this is a creation to show you just how our universe is evolving.

The Adler Planetarium is truly an amazing place to visit! It reminds us just how vast, immense and interesting our universe is.

A great way to see this outside of these fascinating exhibits is to see space with your own eyes in the Doane Observatory. This is set up for observation during the After Dark special observation events. Check out their site for up to date information on discount day and other special seasonal events.

From Downtown and Michigan Avenue

CTA bus #146 stops along Michigan Avenue north of the river and on State Street south of the river and will drop you off in front of our building.

Alternatively,
take the CTA Orange, Red, or Green line.Exit the train at the Roosevelt stop.From there, you can take CTA bus #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, which will drop you off in front of our building.

From the South Side and Northwest Indiana

Take the South Shore or the Metra Electric trains to the Roosevelt Road stop.From there, you can take CTA bus #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, which will drop you off in front of our building.Alternatively, cross Columbus Drive and walk east to the Adler.

From Downtown Metra Terminals

Union Station
Take CTA bus #1 or #151 to State Street.Transfer to CTA bus #146 south.

Oglivie Transportation Center
Take CTA bus #14 or #56 east to State Street.Transfer to CTA bus #146 south.

LaSalle Street Station
Pick up the #146 bus on State Street at Van Buren.

Roosevelt Road Station
Walk east towards the Museum Campus Underpass. Follow signage to access the Museum Campus.

Take Lake Shore Drive (US-41) south past Grant Park. Continue south until the 18th Street exit.
Turn left on 18th Street and continue as it bends left, becoming Museum Campus Drive. Continue right onto Solidarity Drive to our front doors.

Parking is available at the coin operated meters on Solidarity Drive, in the parking lot adjacent to the Adler Planetarium or in the parking garage at Soldier Field. All parking on the Museum Campus is owned by the Chicago Park District and managed by Standard Parking.

Lot Adjacent to the Adler

$16 per car on non-event days, higher on days when Park District sponsored special events occur around the Museum Campus. This lot is cash only.

Soldier Field Lot

$19 on non-event days, higher on days when Park District sponsored special events occur around the Museum Campus.

Note about the Planetarium: On Chicago Bears' home game days, all Museum Campus parking has been pre-sold by the Chicago Park District to game ticket holders.
During other major events at Soldier Field, Museum Campus-area parking lots may be unavailable to museum visitors. Parking in the lot south of Adler is $46 when parking is available.
